On January 22, 2014, a full house at the Peeler Recreation Center heard presentations from the Renaissance Community Coop and Self-Help Ventures Fund. The RCC is launching our ownership and fundraising campaigns following the hiring of our first staff person, Lamar Gibson! Self-Help Ventures Fund has submitted a proposal to the City of Greensboro to buy the Renaissance Shopping Center and renovate it for business. They have indicated the RCC is their first choice as anchor grocery store tenant.
Both groups heard and answered questions from the community about the two efforts and how they may work together for the benefit of the neighborhood. Below is the presentation made by RCC Board members John Jones and Louis Beveridge, and Ownership and Fundraising Coordinator Lamar Gibson.
